Part of the JVYS PIF contract, the Huntsville SESI Facility, in concert with cutting-edge development efforts of JVYS and the Apache Attack Helicopter Project Management Office, has built the capability to apply special thermal insulating coatings to Apache helicopter engine shrouds. Perfecting this capability in less than a single month, SESI coated engine shrouds are being installed on forward deployed attack aircraft almost immediately after the coating application process is completed. This collaborative effort showcased the SESI commitment to the warfighter by rapid applications of lean manufacturing processes and targeted investment of all SESI resources and facilities. Highest quality products are being delivered at ever increasing rates with 100% quality.
To achieve this growing level of success, SESI employees were fully trained in the cutting-edge processes and techniques within days of commencing initial production. Along with employee training, facilities were immediately expanded and tailored for the utmost efficiency and effectiveness, while still maintaining the ability for the flexibility to meet other customer or program demands.
The program is achieving such success that it is being considered for a number of other US Army aircraft systems.
All of the processes were accomplished within the guidelines of ISO 9001 requirements, and in full compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations.
